DESCRIPTION:
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler performance monitor.
MONITORED PARAMETER:
Intake manifold temperature sensor.
TYPICAL ENABLING CONDITIONS:
1. Engine running greater than five minutes.
2. EGR mass flow greater than .08.
3. Intake manifold temperature less than 125°C (257°F).
4. Engine speed 1200-2500 RPM.
5. Engine torque 500-2500 N·m.
6. Coolant temperature greater than 65°C (149°F).
7. Ambient temperature less than 45°C (113°F) ambient.
8. Barometric pressure greater than 755 mbar (10.95 psi).
MONITOR SEQUENCE:
None
EXECUTION FREQUENCY:
Always enabled
TYPICAL DURATION:
30
DASH LAMPS:
1. MIL
ENGINE REACTION:
None
VERIFICATION:
1.When ambient temperature less than 45°C (113°F).
2. Start engine.
3. Warm up so coolant temperature greater than 65°C (149°F).
4. Ambient barometric pressure greater than 755 mbar (10.95 psi).
NOTE: If there are any cooling system related issues, fix those first.
PROBABLE CAUSES:
1. Intake manifold air temperature sensor.
2. Intake manifold air temperature sensor connector/harness.
3. EGR system leaks (Look for soot).
4. Remove the EGR hot pipe, EGR crossover tube, and mixer pipe. If blockage found, replace the EGR Cooler.
