Circuit description
The primary function of the Buffer Air Valve Unit (BVU) is to supply the turbocompound with constant air pressure and flow. Air is supplied between the turbocompound oil seals to compensate for pressure differences and reduce the possibility of oil leakage. The system includes a pressure sensor in the air supply line on the BVU housing to ensure proper functioning of the BVU and correct air supply to the turbocompound seals. The pressure sensor is also used for OBD monitoring of the system
